What’s it like to fold Disney balloons for pennies per hour? Minnesota workers speak out.

Right now, Minnesotans are earning 90¢ per hour folding balloons showcasing one of the world's most recognizable brands: Disney.

Despite the corporation's 2022 Modern Slavery Statement and its Supply Chain Code of Conduct, Disney continues to profit from coerced prison labor under a subcontract with Anagram International LLC, right here in the North Star State.

Last week, previously incarcerated workers, labor unions, and community allies called on one of the worlds biggest brands to help end slavery in Minnesota.

Nearly 800 incarcerated people in Minnesota's prisons are experiencing ongoing exploitation because under Article 1, Section 2 of Minnesota's Constitution slavery is legal as punishment for a crime. Disney has the opportunity and moral responsibility to not only investigate it's own subcontractor but help ensure that no family, no child, has to endure the harms of modern-day slavery.

What’s it like folding balloons for Anagram? Watch this four-minute video to hear from three people who got paid as little as 25¢ per hour while incarcerated at Faribault, Stillwater and Shakopee prisons.

Take action today: Tell Disney to renegotiate its contract with Anagram to ensure fair wages for incarcerated workers AND sign on to support the End Slavery in Minnesota campaign.
